Barbara Dice Obituary (2022) – Midland, MI

Barbara Kathleen Dice
Barbara Kathleen Dice, our heart and soul of the family has passed into the gates of heaven after fighting ALS on June 1, 2022 at her home. Our mother fought this battle with courage, strength and still only thinking and showing of how to help her family through it. Holding unto God, the Lord above granting us special times with her. Pulling together as we did in our family, grieving together, figuring it out together, and especially love deeper. I know spending moments with the one’s she loved meant a great deal to her. Cherishing every second with her during this fight she endured, she never showed anything but grace and humility.
Barbara Kathleen Dice, the daughter of Archie and Catherine Wellman was born on November 23, 1951. Graduate of Meridian High School in Sanford, Michigan.
Sweet wife, dearest mother and grandmother you will be missed so much, thought about and wished for you to be here every day. I don’t know how we all go on with that much love without you. The only answer is we carry you very close to our souls, the place you’ve always been.
I want this obituary to be about you. The wife, the mother and grandmother you were. You were our open road to any communication and advice we needed. You were our guidance, our shoulder to cry on, with more laughs growing up in our house and through adulthood that was so wonderful. The laughs, playfulness and quick wit between you and your loving husband, Barry, showed us kids how love truly is. You don’t quit and run if there is a problem, you stay and work it out. Laughter keeps you moving in a closeness through the rough patched and always standing by each other’s side.
You were our heart and best friend. You accomplished so much in life from marrying your husband, Barry Dice Sr. on Sept. 20, 1968 to being a young mother, working hard jobs as we got a little older, us kids can all agree we loved going with you to work at the drive in. To then becoming the owner of your own health care agency, Dedicated In Care Enterprise for 26 years. Always trying to be on top of things so the clients were getting good care. So proud of you mom. You helped so many people in your life, worked so many long hours to keep your business going. You and dad made a great team and your family learned from that. Perseverance in the no matter what, strive for more, and work hard. There is no one who knew you that would mention your name without adding the word, kind. Your generosity and kindness will be remembered by so many people. Life will never be the same without you here, our hearts will feel you always and wish to have just one more hour with you.
Thank you for the value you put in your family, being the light when we felt lost and thank you for always feeling like we were always home.
Barbara loved to paint, work in the yard and home, spending time with her family, and loved giving more than ever receiving.
Barbara leaves behind her husband, Barry, whose eyes danced every time she saw him, and a smile she thought no one noticed. Children, Tracy and husband Eric Freeman, Barry Jr. and wife Dawn Dice, Jodi Dice and Greg Miner. Brothers Steven and Bonnie Wellman of Sanford, Michigan, Randall and Sueanne Wellman of Conroe, Texas.
Grandchildren: Andrew Reder, Ryan Reder, Nicole and husband Brian Hayward, Alyssa Dice, Kyle Dice, Arianna and Dakota Armstrong, Kalon Dice, Larissa and Samantha Wishowski. Great grandchildren: Dallas Dice, Kyslie, Sophie, and Kota Hayward, Talon and Greyson Reder.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Catherine Wellman; grandparents, Hartley and Eunice Thrush, Archie and Katherine Wellman, and many other family members.
There is so much we could all say about you, and it still would not be enough to measure up to the truly wonderful, most amazing, strong woman we have all known, grew and learned from. Always remembering “my mom’s faith guided me to my own”
Thank you to all family members, Dawn and Maggie for all the care to our dear wife and mother.
Lovingly written by her family. Services will be private. Personal messages of condolence may be offered to the family at www.wilson-miller.com.
