Charles Vela Obituary (1936 – 2022) – Riverside, CA

5/22/36 and 1/13/36 – 4/12/20 and 1/25/22 Charles F. Vela, Sr. A Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather, he went to be with the Lord on April 12th, 2020, at the age of 84. Born in Los Angeles but raised in Texas, Chuck excelled in sports in High School and attended The University of Texas (a Longhorn fan till death) before joining the Texas Department of Safety. The opportunity presented itself, and Chuck decided to move back to California with his wife (Anna) and son (Chuck Jr.) in tow. Starting off as a police officer, he soon realized that a lifelong calling of being a Fire Fighter was his career of choice. His passions in life were staying in contact with the Fire community and Soccer refereeing. Anna J. Vela. A Mother, Grandmother, and Great grandmother, she went to be with the Lord January 25th, 2022, at the age of 86. Born and raised in Texas, she met Charles Vela, Sr., the love of her life, in high school and married soon after graduating. After the birth of their first son, Charles Jr., they moved to California so that Chuck could pursue a career in law enforcement. Deciding that law enforcement was not for him, he began a career with the Fire Department that led to the family moving to Riverside and Anna becoming a Fireman’s wife. Her passion for teaching and her involvement in the Delta Theta Chi Sorority were highlights that she cherished. A celebration of their lives will be held May 7th from noon till 4:00PM at 6296 Promontory Lane, Riverside (canyon Crest). For information, please call 951.783.9044
