Fishertown

Gary L. Imler, 79, of Quaker Valley Road, Fishertown, Pa., passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022 from UPMC Altoona Hospital, Altoona, Pa.

Gary was born in New Enterprise on July 5, 1942, son of the late John and Margaret (Kagarise) Imler.

On November 28, 1969, he married his wife M. Marlene “Sue” Foor.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son- Gary L. “Chip” husband of Dawn (Vaughn) Imler, Alum Bank; son- Dale husband of Christine (Dohoda) Imler, of Schellsburg; daughter- Susie wife of Iggy Oldham, of Alum Bank; sister- Betty Burkett, of Imler; brother- Richard Imler, of Pulaski; brother- Barry Imler of Milroy; six grandkids, Tiffany, Erin, Hailey, Linsey, Brooke, Brett and one great-granddaughter- Samantha Rose. Preceded in death by sisters- Frieda Bayer and Sandy Imler; brothers- Sonny Imler, Cletus “Keete” Imler, Kipp Imler, Donald Imler, Clair Imler and Kenny Imler.

Gary was a member of Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church, Bedford American Legion Post 113, Pleasantville VFW Post 9219, and the Berlin United States Military Veterans Association.

Gary served his country in the United States Army.

He was a diesel mechanic at Lane Metal for 35 years. He enjoyed hunting, going Potter mushroom hunting, and traveling with Bollman Charter.

Friends and family will be received Tuesday, April 19, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 19, at 11 a.m. at Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church with Pastor Dan Oldham officiating. Internment will be at Bedford County Memorial Park, Bedford, Pa.

Military rites accorded to the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
