On the final night of the regular season, LaRue County and Fort Knox made sure they would have at least one win this season as they head into the playoffs.
The Hawks, 1-9, used a goal-line stand from their own 3-yard line in the closing seconds to knock off Russell County, 25-20, as senior Conlee Crossno rushed for three touchdowns and threw for a score.
Crossno had TD runs of 1, 25 and 6 yards and threw a scoring pass to senior Tom Shelton, who turned it into a 37-yard scoring play.
LaRue County opens the Class 3-A playoffs Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Mercer County (9-1).
Junior running back Roques Wrenn rushed for 187 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries as the Eagles won at home, 23-20, Friday.
Wrenn also scored a 2-point conversion for the Eagles (1-9).
Sophomore Joshua Hernandez booted a field goal to finish the Fort Knox scoring.
Sophomore Robert Magalong led the defense with 13 tackles including 10 solo tackles and 3 tackles for lost yardage for the Eagles.
Fort Knox plays at 7 p.m. Friday against Green County (8-2) in its Class 2-A playoff opener.
The Panthers will travel Friday to face Garrard County (3-7) to begin the Class 3-A coming off a home win.
The Panthers (3-7) beat Seneca, 31-22, at home Friday.
A 37-yard TD pass from senior Greyson Hainer to senior Sincere Washington with 11:55 to play in first half got the Panthers on the board as they won their third game in the last five outings.
Elizabethtown and Garrard County, who haven’t met since 2004, kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
Central Hardin closed the regular season with a 48-8 loss at Bryan Station on Friday in Lexington.
The 48 points are the most the Bruins have given up this season.
Central Hardin (5-5) will host Christian County (2-8) in the first round of the Class 6-A playoffs at 7 p.m. Friday.
John Hardin heads into the Class 4-A playoffs riding a three-game losing streak after the Bulldogs lost at DeSales on Friday night, 29-14.
The setback comes on the heels of district losses to Bardstown and Nelson County.

Senior quarterback Bennett Hobbs threw a pair of touchdown passes in Meade County’s 43-20 loss Friday at home to defending Class 6A state champion Bullitt East.
Hobbs threw TD passes of 12 and 28 yards to senior Grant King. The Green Wave (5-5) opened their scoring after trailing 21-0 at halftime on a trick play when Hobbs threw a pass backwards to senior Ethan Brandon. He then threw the ball deep to a wide-open Conner Cole, a junior, for a touchdown.
Meade County plays Friday at Trinity (7-3) in its Class 6A playoff opener.
