LAKE PLACID — After winning its first game of the season this past Friday, the Lake Placid boys soccer team suffered a 10-2 home loss to the Northeastern Clinton Cougars on Tuesday.

The Cougars scored five goals in each half to improve to 4-1-1, while the Blue Bombers fell to 1-6.

Seb Cecunjanin connected on both Lake Placid’s goals. The first came on a direct kick in the first half. His second goal was scored on a penalty kick late in the second half.

Northeastern Clinton finished with a 24-4 edge in shots and seven different players scored for the Cougars. James Wells led the team with a hat trick, while Owen Ebersol scored twice.

Will Landriault stopped 11 shots for the Blue Bombers before Gunner Sheffield was subbed in during the second half. Sheffield finished the game with three saves. The Cougars’ Maxx Rabideau was credited with three saves.

Lake Placid was slated to take on Northern Adirondack on the road on Wednesday. The Blue Bombers will then return home to face Willsboro on Friday at 4:30 p.m.


Beekmantown 3, Lake Placid 0

The Lake Placid volleyball team was defeated 3-0 by the Beekmantown Eagles on the road Tuesday evening. The Blue Bombers fell by scores of 25-9, 25-17 and 26-24.

Nadia Phillip led Lake Placid with 11 kills, 10 digs, six points, one ace and one block. Norah Galvin contributed with nine assists, two kills and one point. Reagan Lamotte had 6 digs and Kelsey McKillip led the team with two aces.

Payton Reynolds paced the Eagles with 12 points, 13 assists, 10 digs and five aces. Janna Ruest had a solid outing for Beekmantown with 10 assists, eight points, two digs and one ace, while Kayla Castine chipped in with 18 digs.

The Blue Bombers are currently 2-6 on the season. Lake Placid is slated to host the Plattsburgh Hornets today at 6 p.m.
