Laporte man injured in semi crash – Park Rapids Enterprise

A semi jackknifed April 5 in Hubbard County, injuring a driver from Laporte.

According to an April 12 press release, a caller reported at 10:09 a.m. that a semi truck had run off County Road 9 and jackknifed in the caller’s driveway.

Sheriff’s deputies and medical personnel responded to the scene and found a 2019 Kenworth logging truck in the ditch, the release states. The driver, identified as Dean Hooker, 65, of Laporte was found suffering from facial injuries, and was transported by ambulance to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Investigation showed that Hooker was westbound on County 9 in an empty logging truck when he lost control on a curve, the release states. The truck went off the roadway, crossed over 219th Ave., jackknifed and came to a stop.

Snow and slush on the roadway were a factor in the crash, the report states. The incident remains under investigation.
