Leonard ‘Buck’ Gary Baker | Obituaries

Leonard “Buck” Gary Baker, 85, died at home at 8:55 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023, in Saxton.

He was the son of the late Bruce and Lucy (Angelo) Baker.

Leonard was born in Huntingdon Oct. 3, 1937.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ron, Bruce, Jim and Frank.

Surviving are siblings Mary (Baker) Gates and husband Tom, Dudley, and Lou Baker Angelo and wife Charlotte of Missouri.

He is also survived by his wife of 65 years June Dorothy (Villa) Baker. They are the parents of four children: Sharon Baker Brode married to Bob, Saxton, Leonard “Lenny” married to Vicky, Bloomsburg, Susan (Baker) Donaldson married to Jason, Saxton, and Sandra Kay (Baker) Rickabaugh married to Brian, James Creek.

They are blessed to have eight grandchildren: Kenton, Drew, Stephanie, Nickolas, Derrick, Brittanie, Danielle, and Mitchell. There are also 11 great-grandchildren: Bo, Luke, Ashton, Brady, Kyran, Landon, Adelie, Lucy, Maggie, Owen and Addison.

Leonard was a masonry for New Enterprise Stone & Lime and later worked at R&R Vending.

He attended the First Church of God in Saxton.

He was most proud of his family. Leonard’s hobbies were attending family sporting activities, horse racing, puzzles, workshop projects and Sunday dinners.

Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, until the hour of service at the Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church St., Saxton, PA 16678.

Funeral service will be held at noon Thursday, Feb. 2, at the Akers Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ron Wilson officiating.

Burial will be held at Grandview Cemetery.
