Mary Graham Obituary (2024) – Elizabethtown, KY

Mary Nell Richardson Graham, 99, of Elizabethtown, entered Heaven’s gates on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Helmwood Medical Center in Elizabethtown.

Beginning her career teaching at a one-room school, she retired from Grayson County Schools after 37 years as a teacher in Alabama and at H.W. Wilkey Elementary School combined. She worked in the ministry of her husband, the Rev. Harold Graham, who served as pastor and evangelist for churches in Grayson, Breckinridge, Barren and Metcalfe counties in Kentucky and Piedmont, Alabama. She was a longstanding member of Mount Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she was given the honor of elder emeritus. She was also a member of the Grayson County Teachers Association.

Mary Nell was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her son, Gary; parents, Lannie and Vonnie Richardson; a brother and sister-in-law, Murrel and Jackie Richardson; a brother-in-law, Dr. Bill Horrell; a daughter-in-law, Judy Graham; and three grandsons, Philip Dalton, Eric Cravens and William Graham, infant.

Left to cherish her memories are her three daughters, Linda (Larry) Love of Anniston, Alabama, Donna (Erdie) Carter of Elizabethtown and Penny (Joe) Dalton of Albany; 10 grandchildren, Barry (Jackie) Graham of Magnolia, Texas, Jeff (Melissa) Love of Oxford, Alabama, Leslie (Mitch) Dooley of Corpus Christi, Texas, Erdie Jr. (Pam) Carter of Owensboro, Lee (Laura) Carter of Georgetown, Stehanie (Matt) Scott of Winter Garden, Florida, Laura (Joey) England of Albany, Angela (Jason) McCray of Leitchfield and Joanna (Bryson) Cross and Sue (Rick) Fuquay, all of Albany. She loved her 18 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild dearly. She also is survived by a sister, Edna Horrell of Summerfield, Florida; and a daughter-in-law, Melanie Graham of Birmingham, Alabama.

The funeral is at 1 p.m. CDT Monday, April 1, at Leitchfield Funeral Home in Leitchfield with the Rev. Erdie Carter Jr. officiating. Burial follows in Mount Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. CDT Monday at the funeral home.
