Theresa E. Joseph, 88, of Tupper Lake passed away peacefully on May 17, 2022. Theresa was born Oct.14,1933, the daughter of George and Mary (Gaston) Joseph.

Theresa graduated from the local schools and held several jobs during her lifetime. Theresa, along with her three sisters, operated Joseph’s Market on Washington Street which was started by her father many years prior. She was a teller at the Tupper Lake National Bank and then became a telephone operator at Sunmount DDSO.

She had a very strong faith which was shown by her involvement in the workings and organizations of Holy Name Church and in her everyday life. She was a lector, an Eucharistic minister and a Sacristan. She was a member of the St. Anne Society and traveled with the group to visit Saint Anne DeBeaupre Shrine annually and also visited Jerusalem. She was a member of the Auxiliary Legion of Mary.

Theresa was predeceased by her parents and sisters Mamie, Lona and Yesman. She is survived by family members, Clarence and Najarene (Ellis) Bell and their seven children, as well as Anthony and Dawn (Hutchins) Ellis and their five children.

There will be no calling hours or reception following the wishes of Theresa. Her funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 24 at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Holy Name of Jesus Church. Burial will immediately follow in the family plot at Holy Name Cemetery.

Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider the Tupper Lake History Museum or The Tupper Lake Rescue Squad.
