Sofia Vergara’s Toty Launches at Thirteen Lune, New Retinol Serum

Sofia Vergara’s hybrid skin care brand Toty is celebrating the beauty of inclusion with its first in-store partner, retailer Thirteen Lune, which dedicates 90 percent of its shelf space to people of color-founded brands.

“I’m excited because our mission and values align in supporting and advocating for powerful black and brown women entrepreneurs,” Vergara exclusively told WWD in an interview. “They believe that inclusivity starts with the ownership and amplifying founders that represent the communities, which is something that I’ve always believed in. And they have goals that we like, like having beauty retail ensuring shelves reflecting the diversity of the beauty consumers — they have so much in common to our business. So, we thought it was perfect.”

Toty will debut on Thursday at Thirteen Lune’s Los Angeles flagship store in Larchmont Village, a walkable and quaint shopping district lined with boutiques, small businesses and eateries. In tandem with the launch, the brand is releasing its latest product, Reversa Retinol Photoage-Defying Serum.

“[Reversa Retinol] is one of the products that I’m super-excited about because it’s like a photoaging defying serum, and it’s amazing because what we want to do with Toty is not just be a beauty line,” Vergara said. “We want to protect skin with the sun, but we want to correct it, and this is one of the products that help… we want to reverse aging and to have more beautiful skin. Its pro grade results are going to give you brighter skin, it’s going to reduce wrinkles and it’s super-mild.”

The sustained-release .5 percent retinol, which retails for $89, is intended to decrease fine lines and wrinkles, and help to even out skin tone, according to the brand. It will be available for purchase on Thursday on toty.com and at Thirteen Lune, where the retailer’s founder Nyakio Grieco said she has high expectations for the brand. “Toty had been on our radar as sun care and multi-tasking products are strong sellers for us,” Greico explained. “Sun care resonates well with our customer, so the Toty Illumina CC Creamy Compact w SPF50+ will no doubt do well, especially as it comes in an inclusive range of shades and has buildable coverage. The Transforma AHA 360 Retexturizing Serum is also a great add as products that help with hyperpigmentation and resurfacing perform well with our customer.”

Vergara’s Toty brand launched in June 2023, releasing a line of sun care-focused cosmetics and SPF products. In November, the brand expanded to include multipurpose treatments through its first correction formula with the Transforma AHA 360 Retexturing Serum. The following year, Toty added SPF body care products to its portfolio with an antioxidant sunscreen. The Colombian-born actress developed the brand in partnership with Spain-based pharmaceutical lab Cantabria Labs, which produces, Heliocare — her favorite sunscreen she found in Europe. With Toty, Vergara, 52, said she wanted to bring the same benefits of beauty and skin care she has embraced over the years while serving the needs of all skin types.

“I moved to United States, like 30 years ago, and even before you would get brands that would have three or four colors, and now you have brands like, like Rihanna’s brand that it’s like, unbelievable that there’s, you know, a color for every single skin color,” she said. “That is amazing that things have changed a lot. Before it was very, very difficult to find colors for or shades that would look nice with women of color, even including Latin people, black people.”
