I have very dry skin, and it gets even worse when it’s cold. Only a handful of things keep it soft and not scaly. We’re talking about heavy-duty moisturizers, oils, and my secret product, body serums. When it comes to your body care routine, you can be as thorough as you are with your skin and hair care because breakouts, dullness, and dryness don’t just occur on your face.
If you’re using exfoliating bodywashes and scrubs, step up your routine with a serum. There are serums to target your skin-care concerns and serums to add some extra hydration. I love adding these in my routine a few times a week for extra moisture in the winter and glow in the summer. Layering a serum under a sunscreen oil is the best way to get that summer glow and keep your skin protected. I’ve tested over 10 body serums, and below are my six current favorites.

Key Ingredients: Hyaluronic acid, peptides, seaweed | Size: 4 fl oz.
Just like hyaluronic acid is a nice booster for your face, it also works wonders for your body. This one from Osea is lightweight and absorbs quickly. If you have extra dry skin like I do, you’ll want to seal this in with a heavier formula.

Key Ingredients: Ceramides, kakadu plum extract | Size: 4 fl oz.
A product rarely hydrates my dry, flaky skin almost instantly, but this one does, thanks to the ceramides in the formula. It also firms and smoothens skin over time but I’m happy enough with the immediate results to keep using it. It even has the added benefit of making them look glowy and healthy without any added oils, shimmers, or moisturizers.

Key Ingredients: Vitamin C, tranexamic acid, enzymes | Size: 5.1 fl oz.
Nécessaire has a lot of body serums, so the key to the formula is finding which one is best for you. Its vitamin-C serum is thicker yet not sticky or irritating. It also promises to hydrate and brighten over time. What I like about this formula are the ingredients like tranexamic acid and other exfoliants to target dark spots and hyperpigmentation.

Key Ingredients: Hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, ceramides | Size: 5.1 fl oz.
If you want something a little less active from the brand, stick to their classic body serum. With hyaluronic acid and niacinamide to boost the skin barrier, this is a no-brainer, entry-level serum that gets the job done. It’s not sticky or greasy and pairs well with your other favorites from the brand.

Key Ingredients: Urea, amino acids | Size: 14 fl oz.
Naturium expanded its line of buzzy body care formulas with a nourishing serum with an even buzzier skin-care ingredient: urea. It moisturizes and keeps the skin hydrated over time, and along with amino acids, helps this serum smooth and moisturize the skin. It is on the stickier side but you can remedy that by sealing it in with your go-to moisturizer or body oil.

Key Ingredients: Meadowfoam seed oil, argan oil, evening primrose oil | Size: 6.8 fl oz.
Deputy style editor Joanna Nikas’s favorite body serum comes in two different scents. Jasmine de Nuit is ideal for dry, sensitive skin, with notes of jasmine and sandalwood. Mille Fleurs is a bright floral scent that leaves skin feeling soft and hydrated, not greasy.
