Hugh Jackman physical fitness: Actors often have to undergo extreme and insane transformations to get into shape, especially if they have signed up to play the part of a superhero. Remember the iconic Steve Rogers-versus-helicopter scene in the 2016 film ‘Captain America: Civil War‘, for which actor Chris Evans had to work out extensively at the gym, only for the filmmakers to capture the legendary shot of his steady-and-strong arms bulging through his shirt? Yes, we are talking about fleeting moments like that on-screen, for which actors have to exercise a lot of discipline.

Hugh Jackman — who reprised his role as the badass ‘Wolverine’ in the recently-released film ‘Deadpool & Wolverine‘ — took to Instagram to share a ripped, shirtless mirror selfie of his enviable body, sharing with his followers everything that went on behind-the-scenes to get him in this shape! The actor looked in perfect shape as he flaunted his torso and well-defined abs, which were highlighted in the movie, too. At the age of 55, it was Jackman’s own dedication, along with the constant effort of his team members that ensured he was able to look this ripped for the role.

“I’ve had a lot of people, who talk to me, ask me questions about how I got into shape,” the Australian actor said in an audio note attached to the photograph. “What I did, what I ate, how I trained, how hard it is at your age, and all of these things. And honestly, I just wanted to take a second and say, ‘Yeah I had to turn up, I had to do those deadlifts, I had to eat those meals, but I had an incredible team that helped me.” He went on to talk about his team of eight persons. “There’s no hope in hell I would have gotten there without them.”

Jackman first mentioned Beth Lewis, who has been his trainer for the past five years. He admitted that he is in better physical health, in terms of his knees and his shoulders, which have bothered him in the past. About Lewis, he added that she does not make him ‘overwork’, and he has achieved the results he needed, while feeling fantastic about his body, because of the efforts of Lewis.

“[Lewis] made me realise that I had been overworking in the past. She was always present, thoughtful, and kind. When it was time to push me, she [really] could push me,” the actor shared.

Jackman also gave a shout-out to the people who helped him eat right, without him having to worry about what to shop for his meals, and what to cook. He had someone keeping a tab of his protein, fat and carbohydrate intake during different phases of his physical training.

He also mentioned his makeup artist Whitney James, who was called in to… “put on some kind of oil to make my skin glisten.”

Jackman fans and followers quickly jumped into the comment section to share their thoughts about his selfie, and everything else that he had confessed in the accompanying audio. “Thank you for being honest about how you did it,” someone wrote.

“So proud of you, Hugh! You look amazing! You and your team put in the work and I love hearing how grateful you are to them. We as fans are grateful, too! another person commented.

Someone joked: “Can I come wash my laundry on your abs? Respectfully.”
